Our History

Dicks Bathrooms Haarlem

Our company was founded in 1908 as a branch of a belt factory in Utrecht by Mr. A.F. Dicks. Later the name changed to Dicks en Zn. and in 1934 it became an independent company. Over time, the range changed and, for example, appendages and gaskets became stockproducts.

The company was taken over in the 1960s by Mr. Tullenaar who was a cousin of Dicks and had been working for the company for years at the time. Later he had to sell the company to (again) his cousin André Lemmers due to illness.

In the 1980s, partly due to the rise of central heating, Dicks became a serious supplier to the installation and contracting industry. The location next to the Teylers Museum became increasingly cramped and eventually the business moved to its current location with 750 mtr² of private parking. The step from 270 to 1000 mtr² offered the opportunity to build a leading showroom and the combination of Technical Trading Company and Sanitary Showroom is still a distinctive advantage.

In 2003 André Lemmers sold his business to the current owners, his son Arjan Lemmers and the former manager Hendrik Jan Mok.
